Mode of action:

Carbofuran inhabits the enzyme acetyl cholinesterase, which is responsible for breaking down the Neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the synapses of the nervous system. When acetyl cholinesterase is inhibited, acetylcholine accumulates in the synaptic cleft, leading to continuous stimulation of the postsynaptic neurons. The persistent presence of acetylcholine causes prolonged nerve impulses resulting in overstimulation of the nervous system. This can lead to paralysis and death in insects.
